Cobra 50th Anniversary AeroJet Drivers

1973. That was when Thomas Crow founded a small club company and named it COBRA Golf. For the next decade plus, a list of firsts in the golf industry was the standard for the brand.

In 1975, the Baffler became the first utility wood bringing in an entire new category of clubs. A few years after that, the extended length driver came out. This club was 46″ and had both a graphite shaft and head. The 80s brought more innovation as COBRA was the first US club manufacturer to offer stock graphite shafts in their woods and irons. Before the end of the decade, the company introduced the autoclave system, which at the time (and some still believe it is now) was the single biggest breakthrough in graphite shaft production. Autoclave allowed shafts to be strengthened through the the curing process.

The list of firsts is lengthy, but it all started back in 1973. This year marks the 50th anniversary of COBRA Golf and they are celebrating in style. Two Limited Edition 50th Anniversary AeroJet drivers are being unveiled.

“Fifty years is an impressive achievement,” said Dan Ladd, President of Cobra Puma Golf.  “Our goal has always been to continue to innovate and create technologies that allow players to better enjoy the game and thus far we’ve been quite successful. We wanted all the Cobra fans out there to be able to celebrate with us which is why we created this beautiful, limited-edition driver.”
