Pinned Golf, as their name indicates, clearly has a foundational focus on rangefinders, but for any brand present day it makes sense to offer more, especially when you are a brand who embraces fun like Pinned does. What does that mean exactly? Well, in this instance we are talking about a Bluetooth speaker option for those of us who enjoy music in and around the game we love, but in typical Pinned fashion it also means a focus on performance for the right price.
The Details
A nice addition to the Pinned arsenal, and with how the brand presents itself, it makes total sense to offer a speaker. Not audiophile quality, but good enough for some fun on the course. The size and profile make it easy to toss into a pocket with little worry about adding weight to the bag. Solid bang for the buck.
Pinned Dart Magnetic Speaker
Look, by now we all know how polarizing music on and around the course is for certain demographics, it is one of the biggest generational arguments there is. I’m not here to talk about that, love it or hate it, Bluetooth speakers in golf are here to stay, as with anything though, that doesn’t mean you should have to break the bank for a quality device. That is what Pinned Golf had in mind when designing their Dart speaker, take the ergonomics that work then mix it with solid sound as well as some bells and whistles.
As an unabashed fan of music while I play and practice, I am always excited to get the chance to review a new speaker and see how it stacks up. Even as a bit of an audiophile nerd outside of golf, I understand that within the game it’s all about balance. The Dart is a great attempt at finding that balance.
The Dart is a round, disc-like shaping which keeps a curved build both for looks and sound dispersion purposes. In terms of size, it is 4-inches in diameter and just over 1.5-inches thick. The speaker has a nicely sized magnetic base on the back which they call their “Cart-Mag”. Much like the Pinned Prism rangefinder I got to spend time with, the Dart speaker stayed put on the golf cart frame as well as I would expect and hope to see.
I’m not going to insult your intelligence when it comes to the ease of connectivity and such as most in our current world are familiar with pairing Bluetooth devices, the Dart is no different than those. The company claims 100-feet of connectivity and I had no cut-out issues when walking to the green with my phone in pocket while the cart was parked, I would say the effectiveness is as I would expect in that regard.
Finally, the battery life for me was within an acceptable margin from the 5-hours Pinned claims when fully charged. The sound though was a pleasant surprise, while it isn’t going to blow any audiophile away, there is a surprising level of bass and good clarity which avoids any tinniness that sometimes occurs in cheaper speakers. Plus, the shape does a good job dispersing the sound. The speaker comes in either an entirely red or black finish, and the quality is definitely better than I anticipated. It is a solid all around option, nothing more, nothing less, and that is a win for Pinned Golf.

Price: $49.99
Colors: Black, Red
I think I need to order one of these.
The connectivity not cutting out, plus the price is what grabs me.
Unmm….. 100′ of Bluetooth connection and just under $50!

Neat little speaker. Black would be my choice.
That is one heck of a great price!!! We have various of Bluetooth speakers around the house. Some of which need to be replaced. The design is great and limits the amount of space that it takes up and seems to have a good battery life.
Might be time to upgrade and make another purchase thanks to THP.
I really like the size on this one, most i see are big and can sized, this would tuck in my bag nicely for sure

When I first saw this in the wild, it was tucked into the side pocket of a friend’s bag. It fit perfectly and he still had rain gear in there.

I was just thinking that with the magnet it would be good to attach by the bag, kinda like having all the sound in the car turned to the back speakers….it’s what we did in the 70’s

That would work well too I have a feeling. If you pick one up, post up some pics.
Wishing I’d known about this when I got my current small speaker. It’s a clip-on, which works well for walking, but isn’t my favorite while riding.
If I were in the market for a small speaker I would be all over this. My JBL Clip 3 works well when I am walking and my Bushnell Wingman is perfect for the days when I am riding.
When I first saw the title I read it as “Death Magnetic” and I was like “what, is Metallica getting into golf now????”
Bought one a few weeks ago and absolutely love it! Perfect for when you’re riding. They say only 5 hours of battery life but mine lasted almost 2 full rounds!
100′ that is impressive
wow that’s a great price point, nice write up @Jman
Nice little speaker. Reminds me of an echo.
Nice speaker and write up !!

I have a clip on speaker as well and walk mostly now. If this one had a way to clip and also the magnet it would be a no brainer.
They are pretty sweet, have the red one.
I think I want a red one
Nice looking speaker, great price, and 100′ connectivity is great. I’d be in if it had a way to attach to my bag while walking, my current BT speaker clips on with a carabiner.
This seems like a nice little speaker. If I was in the market for one (I just bought one for this last black Friday), I would definitely give this a shot, especially for $50!
Great size, price and range. I Don’t listen to music on the course much, but if I do start, this will certainly be a speaker I will strongly consider.
Needing a new cart speaker and the price point and distance connectivity seems like it should work great.
The price point alone makes me want to grab one of these puppies…. that and the fact that it doesn’t distort ~100 feet is another good selling point! Nice write up James, as usual!
This is a REALLY solid little speaker. I truly was impressed.
Looks exactly the same as the JBL Clip 3 without the clip.

I have a bluetooth speaker that is more expensive then this one, and it really suffers in the connection radius department. I think about 15-20 feet and the audio starts to cut off. I am one to leave my phone in the cart with the speaker, so it doesn’t really affect me. but100 feet is definitely very impressive.
I got one of these as an early Father’s Day gift and I really like it. It puts out pretty darn good sound for the size, the magnet secrues well (and I have hit a lot of bumps with it), the range is good and it looks great. I have gotten a full round out of it easy, but haven’t pushed it past that yet. I hope to do that this weekend. So far I am really impressed.
