It wouldn’t be a TaylorMade release cycle without refreshed Fairway and Rescue clubs. Like most companies, the driver release tends to get the majority of attention, especially on a year with so much change. Gone is Stealth, so no one has to worry about a third iteration. In its place, is Qi10, and although none of the fairways or hybrids are going to hit that 10,000 MOI mark which is signified in the name, continuity is a good thing.
TaylorMade Qi10 Fairway Woods
For the last fifteen years, TaylorMade fairway woods have had two things in common, they have been near or at the top in overall play, and they have used some version of a Steel or Titanium topline frame. This year, one of those things is guaranteed to change.
Say goodbye to one of the most familiar fairway wood looks in golf as the “Infinity Carbon Crown” featured in the drivers has also made its way to the fairways. The reason for the application is the same in that it is about saving weight which can be moved to the extremes of the three clubheads to optimize the CG and MOI. Similarly, this does mean a footprint change, but being honest, even their Tour/Ti fairways in the past have not been overly compact.
The “Thru Slot Speed Pocket” is alive and well, still creating the potential to optimize the energy transferred back into the ball at impact. Twist Face is also here, and although they are sticking with a metal face still, it has increased 5% in size this time around and each face is unique to that club/loft. Additionally, the weight placements within each head means that all three have a lower CG than Stealth 2 achieved across the board. Add in a revamped new asymmetrical V-Steel sole and there is a lot to be intrigued with.
TaylorMade Qi10
The standard Qi10 looks to be the biggest blend of length and playability in the fairway lineup. Coming in at 190cc it continues a long tradition of heads that inspire confidence, and historically this spot in the lineup is one of the most played fairways on tour for TaylorMade.
By applying the Infinity Carbon Crown they are looking to blend the past with the present. The new crown allowed the internal mass pads to be moved to keep the flatter flight while maintaining forgiveness.
The Qi10 is a bonded fairway that will be offered in 3 (15), 3HL (16.5), 5 (18), 7 (21) and 9 (24) wood options paired with Fujikura Ventus TR Blue FW 6 (R, S, X) and priced at $349.99.
TaylorMade Qi10 Max
If more forgiveness is the name of the game for you, then of course the Qi10 Max is the place to look. At a whopping 200cc, with the new Infinity Carbon Crown it is 5% larger with 5mm in added front to back clubhead length. While externally the size and V-Steel sole bring the confidence from all lies, internally it is the splitting of weight pads to the front (24g) and back (42g) that create the highest MOI fairway ever for TaylorMade.
The Qi10 Max is a bonded hosel design which comes standard with the Fujikura Speeder NX TCS 50 (A, R, S) and will be offered in 3 (16), 5 (19) and 7 (22) wood options. It will be priced at $349.99.
TaylorMade Qi10 LS
Finally, the player driven LS. At only 170cc this is the smallest of the three options at fairway, but it does have the deepest face. The size combined with the Infinity Carbon Crown makes for the most compact looking and traditionally shaped as well. TaylorMade is calling it “Three Fairways in One” thanks to the 50g sliding weight (+/- 150 RPM) which is placed lower in the head than ever before with over half of the track hidden internally to help aerodynamics.
This one is a low spin, but workable fairway wood, utilizing the Titanium head and is the only of the three to feature TaylorMade’s adapter system for +/- 2-degrees of loft adjustability. The Qi10 LS will be available in 3 (15) and 5 (18) and priced at $449.99.
TaylorMade Qi10 Rescues
At times it feels like people forget not only TaylorMade’s history with the hybrid, but just how good their Rescue clubs have been over the years. The Rescue has long been a blend of do-it-all, gap filler, and flat-out iron replacement. This year, with three clubhead options, they are looking to blend even more while keeping max versatility.
The Qi10 Max Rescue is the biggest overall footprint of the three, but it has the shallowest face. This is part of keeping the CG as low as possible thanks to the rearward perimeter weighting which has increased thanks to the application of a carbon crown. The Qi10 Max is a bonded hosel Rescue available in 3 (20), 4 (23), 5 (27), 6 (31) and 7 (35) options and is paired with Fujikura Speeder NX TCS 50 and 60.
Next is the all-around Qi10 Rescue. This one will be most familiar to those who have used a TM Rescue before and is the most balanced shape, right in between the other two size wise. This also uses a carbon crown and has a middle-of-the-road face depth. Internally the weighting is split front and back to create distance while staying easy to launch. This too is a bonded hosel option available in 3 (19), 4 (22), 5 (25), 6 (28), and 7 (31) Rescue paired with Fujikura Ventus TR Blue HB (5A, 6R, 7S).
Finally, the deep faced and square toe, but ultra compact, Qi10 Tour Rescue. Using a forged C300 face with a centralized internal weighting, this is a better player style club focused on workability. Unlike the other two, there is no carbon crown here, but the Tour does have adjustability with a rear TSS weight and +/- 2-degree adapter capability. Options are 2 (17), 3 (19.5), 4 (22) Tour Rescue’s, but thanks to that adapter system they can cover a massive range of fitting.
All three hybrids will be priced at $299.99.
The Details
Once again, it looks like TaylorMade has come forward with a complete lineup that keeps a unified story and provides options for everyone. How will the significant change to Qi10 be taken by consumers? Only time will tell.
Both the Fairways and Rescue clubs will be available for pre-order on 1/9/24 while all the clubs except the Tour fairway will be at retail on 2/2/24. The Qi10 Tour fairway will instead hit shelves on 2/16/24.

This was a pretty meh release for me looks wise, for some reason. I’m sure they loo better in hand, they always do. It’s neat to see that people are having good results with some of the lineup.
Honestly thought by the name it was a PING release not TaylorMade. Still hard for me to make the connection.
That’s interesting. The 10 thing? Because they released on the same day and Ping’s G430 Max 10k where this line is just Qi10.

I think to me its more the letters. PING has the i series, so in my head Qi could be related. Not saying it is wholly logical, just how my brain is.
Got to get some swings in with the Standard model 5W today and I might have to go back for a few more. Sounded solid through the ball, and I love that deep face. This could play very well in the 7W slot ?

7W continues to be just what I wanted. Only use it 2/3 times a round, but man it makes these easy.

You had a UW right? Does this do anything better or worse than that?

It flies higher. I love the length and look and shape of the UW, but even the new one is just a little too flat for me.

Forgot to post this, but with this added to my Tour 5W I’m going 3 headcovers for the first time in years!

I just ordered a 7w. I just love that deeper face on these.
As noted in the Qi10 driver thread… I have the 3, 5 and Hybrid being delivered on 3/19 with the driver. Replacing the Sim2’s. Will post thoughts after getting a chance to game them.
I got to put my new 7W into play. It is exactly what I wanted. I played in a lot of wind today and was able to control the flight on this club pretty effectively. I’ve always gotten along with TM fairways.

Such a weapon when set up well. I used mine a bunch today.
With the 150% trade in now I’m thinking of upgrading. I have the stealth 2+ 4w and 6w which I really like but not sure I have the patience to wait for the qi10 tour 4 and 6 to come out later

This is the first club that I have bought mainly for simulator use. I swore off fairway woods in 2020, hybrids and later the uw filled that spot. I am conservative on the course. Laying up to a number yields better scores than hero shots for me.
Things are different indoors on my simulator. I have plenty of space to swing driver freely but it has been pure garbage indoors. I grabbed my son’s old 915f 4 wood out of frustration and it was a smoke show. I am consistently longer with that old 4 wood and the misses are way smaller. I don’t even tee it up, drop ball, smash, repeat.
I am steep and make way more spin than I need. I am going to start with the lowest loft and weight all the way forward. If I can elevate it and the misses are tame I am done. This will be a fun tee option when driver is not working and I am way more aggressive with hero shots on the sim.
First session in the books and I am very impressed!

I will have more thoughts on this tomorrow.
The first session with the Qi10 tour three wood was eye opening. I am steep with all clubs and create tons of spin, too much in most cases. I have recently built a simulator in my house and although I have plenty of room to swing driver it has been awful so far. I found that I am longer and more accurate with a fairway wood and I can work the ball easily.
I am mainly looking at this club as an option from the tee box but for the first session I hit all the shots off the mat. I wanted to see two things, is it easy to launch and how is the spin? I set the hosel to “lower” which reduces loft -2* to 13*. I moved the giant 50g weight all the way toward the face. This is the lowest loft\spin configuration.
I was pleased to see shots in the 30-35 yard peak height range and spin between 2000-3000 rpm.

With the face open 4* from the hosel setting I was seeing mostly fades but I could still turn it over off the deck. I believe the fade bias will decrease as I adjust the hosel back towards standard loft. The low spin is very encouraging because I know that giant 50g sliding weight is doing its job. I should be able to find a nice balance of spin and launch with some more testing and adjusting.

Ball speeds were in the mid 140s and the distance is what I need for a second tee option. This is a titanium club and it has the powerful crack at impact that I personally love.
Overall it was a great first session and I am excited to get to know this club better and see if it can stay in the bag for a while.
After trying the Qi10 Tour 3 wood in its lowest spin\loft setting I moved the hosel to std. loft and the sliding weight to the mid point. This would be the most neutral setting and I was happy to see it working as advertised. Although I had no trouble launching it before the low spin would hurt consistency.
These two shots show good strikes where the spin stays lowish but is 500-1000 rpm higher than the previous setting. I am not consistent enough to say this is all due to the hosel and slider adjustment but the spin is definitely moving in the right direction.

These two shots did not have great contact and the spin jumped way up. Distance was not penalized hardly at all and both would be in the fairway so I would say this club shows a good bit of forgiveness.

With the hosel set to std. the face was 4* closed compared to the previous setting. I was seeing much less fade spin on the ball and my familiar draw came back. I feel like I can get fairly aggressive with it and it doesn’t hook. This is my first time using a KBS TD shaft and I think it helps keep this club from hooking like others when I get quick in transition “always” ?
It’s an incredible club, I hope some others give it a try. I feel like I am talking to myself up in here?

These two have been working extremely well in combination in my bag.
Went to clean my clubs and this picture of the 7W before I did

says everything about why deep faced fairways work better for me and shallow ones do not.
I gave the standard rescue a solid whack at DSG on Friday. Its nice but seemed really draw bias to me

I put the big slider in the neutral setting and the hosel at the lowest. This opens the face at address and helps me avoid the lefts. I will say it again, this club is the absolute easiest launching fairway I have ever hit!

Best shot of the round yesterday was with the Tour 5W. 277 into a serious wind on a long par 5 to right there. Played the last version a ton and this one plenty and was still a little surprised by it out there. In the best way.
I’m really liking this hybrid. Seems to be easier to hit than the Sim2. It’s definitely easier to get in to the air. For me, I’d hit the Sim2 on the toe. No matter how I adjust my distance from the ball and stance. So, far I’ve hit it 3 times on course. First was topped. LOL 2nd and 3rd times, was a nice mid flight that looked wind piercing. One went dead straight the other had a little fade on it. Was 190 out on the first and was just short in to a wind. Don’t remember the other one.
Hmm, a 7W is calling my name and I keep thinking this might be the spot I land. I played SIM FW’s and loved them.
Bought me a little something something today. Excited to put this on play. Expecting fun things.

Did you hit the Max? I’ve read a lot about it. This 7W is fire so now I’m considering a Max 3W to slot in the top spot of my bag. Curious to get some user experience on it because online reviews are glowing. Seeing forgiving, not left biased, easy, launch high, etc, etc, etc. all things I like to hear.

I hit the standard. Easy to elevate for 3w and longer than any other 3w I’ve hit.

Ian rocking the same weapon I do. The Tour 5W. The same way. Weight forward dialed down.
It’s just so effective on the long approaches with the higher static loft but the setup pushed towards a little open and a little flatter. Fell in love with it last year in theirs and so loving it.
The Qi10 7W is a fun club. Easy pop and carry.
I’ve got the 3 and 5 wood not loving them as much as my stealth 3 and 5 woods but it’s early and I’m Not swinging the best but know more in a few weeks what amazing in all
Brand of clubs is the forgiveness you can still hit bad shots but if your off a little they will still turn out good
This 7W is sweet. It makes me very happy. Just pop and carry, pop and carry, pop and carry. All that with a very neutral setup as far as left right bias is concerned.

i started the year with last years 4w and 6w but now that im gaming the BRNR Mini i think im gonna go pick up the qi10 tour 5w and do the same thing
i “should” start with my 6w and loft it down but thats not as fun as a new club
Feel like I need to give TM more of a chance. I overlooked them in the early 2000s because they were coming out with so many new clubs it felt like you were obsolete the moment you picked them up.

I hit the Qi10 Tour 5W today. It was paired with a KBS TD 70 shaft. I was pretty taken aback with how much ball speed it generated. It was close to what I normally see out of a 3 wood.

ive always found TM’s fairwways to pack a ton of ball speed. I have a picture on my phone from a few years ago when i played the Sim driver and 3w. Sim driver averaged 164 ball speed and the 3w was 162.5
how did you like the TD shaft?
Played a bit yesterday and hit my 7W a couple times including one I absolutely blasted out of the fairway. The sound of this club could be described as a snappy. This club is easy and at a busy 43 I like easy a lot.

I had never hit that shaft before yesterday. I really liked it. Not harsh to me. I could feel some load, but yet it was stable and kept spin down. I wouldn’t mind trying it in a driver.

thats a perfect way to describe it. It’s not harsh but plays stiffer than it feels. Very subtle load
When i first got fit into it i was hitting fades on cruise control with 2300 spin. I’ve had flashes of success with other shafts but the TD is what i keep going back to
took advantage of the 150% trade in and ordered a Tour 5w.
I really had no reason to since my 3 best shots of my round saturday were with the stealth 2+ 6w……but i like new and shiny
