Three Stars Golf Apparel Review

Taking inspiration from the State Flag of Tennessee, which prominently features three stars, and his three children, Three Stars Golf was created out of a desire to offer comfortable, unique apparel at a fair price. The company has a diverse line of products, including polos, headwear, towels, and accessories. We looked at a trio of Three Stars polos and came away impressed by the designs, fit, and value.

Drip Drop

Three Stars Golf polo

While white polka dots on a green background aren’t going to be at the top of just anybody’s wish list, you must consider who’s writing this review. This is The Hackers Paradise, and we love green and white. It’s a bold look, but it’s a bold look we love. We found Drip Drop matched nicely with a pair of white shorts, but that’s certainly not the only option. Light gray or even navy blue are both possible pairings.

Cotton Candy

Part tie-dye, part dreamscape, Cotton Candy is a look that may find interest from a wider demographic than you expect. Whether you’re still reliving your glory days in Haight-Ashbury or just enjoy a little modern psychedelia, Cotton Candy’s blend of sky blue and light pink will stand out anywhere.

Flamingo Rain

Our heart might be with Drip Drop, but Flamingo Rain is an instant favorite. The rich, deep pink flamingos contrast beautifully with the light blue background. A close look reveals even more detail, with light lines that almost make the background seem like a gently rippling body of water. This is a color scheme that can match a ton of different bottoms and accessories, leaving it up to the consumer just how bold or conservative they want to be. In addition, while flamingos are exotic, the design is still one that can be worn casually or even in some workplace settings. This is a versatile, fun polo that instantly vaulted to a weekly wearer.

Fit, Fabric, and Quality

Three Stars Golf attention to detail

Each of the Three Stars polos we tried appear to be built around the same basic design and fabric blend, so we’ll speak to all of them as one.

With a lighter-weight 90/10 blend of Polyester and Spandex, these polos sit right in the sweet spot we like. They are light enough to wear even on the hottest days (and offer UPF 40 protection) without being too shear or revealing. The 4-way stretch fabric itself is a familiar feeling, stretchy material we are all used to. It’s smooth and comfortable against the skin and stacks up nicely against competitors in the same price range.

Three Stars has a useful size chart on their website, and offers exchanges if things don’t quite work out the first time. The company states their polos are “designed for an athletic fit”, which we mostly agree with. We’d characterize it as an “American” athletic fit, meaning there is a bit more room to breathe than we’d see in some of the body-hugging Euro designs out there. The shoulders, chest, and collar are nicely squared off, giving a slimming effect to the midsection. The sleeves, sitting a few inches above elbow length, are just tight enough to look good without being restrictive. The midsection doesn’t have much taper, but avoids the parachute look. Finally, the overall length works both tucked and untucked. For the most part, we’d characterize Three Stars as “true-to-size”, but if you’re a person that generally just likes a little more room, sizing up wouldn’t be the worst option.

In terms of quality, we saw nice consistency in fit and construction among all three shirts. The collars seemed structured enough to retain their shape over time and the stitching was clean and faultless. At their normal price of $59.00, Three Stars provides a solid value to go with their attractive designs and colors.
