Few companies are ensuring that they have something for everyone as well as Callaway Golf right now. With the Paradym lineup this year they have seen incredible success both on Tour and among amateurs, then they added the re-imagined and re-focused Great Big Bertha line to help round out options. However, that did leave room for a truly lightweight and ultra-performance driven release still. What better to fill that void than the return of the STAR lineup, this time as the Paradym Star.
2023 Callaway Paradym Star
In case you donβt have much familiarity with Callawayβs Star releases, they are one of the more unique lineups in golf. The whole concept centers around golfers who are seeking out more speed and distance, but still want to play high-end premium designs. This time around, the Star line ensures there is a version of Paradym for everyone to enjoy.
Who exactly is Star aimed at? Though there are never any absolutes in golf equipment fitting, the Paradym Star is focused on the moderate swing speed golfer who is in the 70 to 85 MPH range with their driver. Likewise, it is typically the 60+ crowd who are transitioning to optimizing their launch within a more game-improvement design. The other thing about Star to remember, this is a premium offering, and as such it does carry a premium price.
As golfers begin to lose speed, their focuses have to shift in order to optimize what they do have. Paradym Star looks to help there by creating a full lineup of clubs (driver, fairway, hybrid, iron) that are 30+ grams lighter than their Paradym counterparts in total club weight. This combines with all the applied technology of Paradym other than the fact that the Paradym Star clubs are all bonded hosels. Each club in the lineup also showcases a new black carbon fiber dark polished finish that makes the clubs look even faster.
The Paradym Star driver is going to be offered in 10.5 and 12.0 degree options (RH only) and has a playing length of 45.75β. While that is a touch longer, it is about making more speed for the golfer that needs it. Internally, Callaway has saved 31g compared to the Paradym X, which means they have been able to optimize things for more launch and draw bias as well. Donβt worry though, all the bells and whistles like the 360 Carbon Chassis, Jailbreak A.I., and A.I. Forged Titanium face are still here. The Paradym Star drivers are paired with UST Mamiya ATTAS Speed Series shafts and Winn Dri-Tac Lite grips, they will carry a $699.99 price tag.
On the fairway side of things, the Paradym Star showcases a tweaked Forged Carbon sole design that helped achieve the draw bias Callaway was looking for. The Batwing sole is still showcased and internally the Tungsten Speed Cartridge has been optimized for launch and speed. In all, the Star is 28g lighter than the Paradym X fairways were. The UST Mamiya ATTAS Speed Series shaft and Winn Dri-Tac Lite are standard, with 3W (16.0), 5W (19.0), 7W (22.0), and 9W (25.0) options available for righties only. The Paradym Star fairways will come in at $399.99.
The sneaky rockstar of the Paradym release has certainly been the hybrids, so there was big focus given to getting it right with Paradym Star as well. To do that, the hybrids are ΒΌβ longer but 33g lighter compared to the Paradym X. Also, the shaping here is different in order to make for more optimal CG location to improve launch and add draw bias while still showcasing the Cutwave sole. The Paradym Star hybrids are $349.99 and will be offered in 4H (21.0), 5H (24.0), 6H (27.0) and 7H (30.0) with Winn Dri-Tac Lite grips and UST Mamiya ATTAS Speed Series shafts.
Finally, the Paradym Star irons. Yes, they are indeed lighter than the Paradym X, 33g this time, but they are also a totally different shaping with the most notable change being in blade length. Internally the Hollow Body Speed Frame and Forged 445 Face Cup backed by Urethane Microspheres still offer the speed and magical feel Callaway has become known for in irons. Externally, there is about 2.5 to 3.0 degrees more loft on each iron to optimize the launch and carry at lower swing speeds. The Paradym Star irons will come as a 6-piece set paired with UST Mamiya ATTAS Speed Series shafts and Winn Dri-Tac Lite grips for a price of $1,499.99.
The Details
As you can see, Paradym Star is intent not only to stand on its own without cutting any technological corners, but also to give a specific segment of golfer access to what they need without sacrificing what they want. The Paradym Star lineup will be available for pre-order on 8/18/23 with a retail date of 9/15/23.
Stumbled upon this on the Callaway site arounf 2am. Premium, priceyβ¦ Iβm sure there is a market for it.
This is an intriguing lineup for someone like myself who is a bit distance challenged. Always nice to see the big club manufacturers keeping the slower guys in mind.
Great to see a full range with the Paradym line! The lightweight option is always a bit of a niche line, but very important to some folks. My father plays the lightweight forgiving line so I know heβll be thrilled to see this come out

Gotta say I like the look of the irons.
I’ve considered removing the blue from my Paradymx.

I thought it was pretty interesting that rather than just being a cosmetic change in Star this time, the irons and hybrid shapes changed as well.

Definitely niche, and the premium aspect surely makes it even more so, but itβs pretty cool that no corners are cut to give a totally different segment all the bells and whistles still.
Iβm not who this line is designed for, but the driver looks gorgeous.
This offering is right up my father-in-law’s alley. He’s played previous star offerings, and this would be an easy upgrade.

That black forged carbon is sick.
@Jman does Paradym Star and Great Big Bertha do the same thing?
Wow. Those irons look great. Definitely prefer them visually to the Paradymβs.
Although not for me, this is great to see. Love the black coloring!
Well, with the 2X trade-in bonus…..
I don’t know, maybe it’s just me, but the irons look a lot like the Taylor Stealth HDs. Shape-wise and cosmetically (no offense, again, just MO). Besides, they’re not designed for people with my swing speed, I’m waiting for clubs aimed a bit, shall we say, “lower”. π

They nailed it for sure.
Hope Iβm not approaching targeted swing speed of these clubs even though I do fall in the targeted age bracket. I do see several golfers in the morning menβs group at the club that these could benefit Iβm sure.
Callaway has done a great job with the Paradym line. This is an awesome option for people in this category. I really like the color comboβs they have on the star line. Nice write up @Jman.
I like options. So I appreciate the release. But Iβd be genuinely curious to see if a driver like this provides any advantage over say something like a Cleveland XL Launcher Lite, Cobra F-Max Airspeed, Ping G430 Max (in the HL build) etc. $699 is a lot of money for lightweight. So it worth the premium.

As somehow who definitely has the target swing speed, I appreciate the many different options too. Although I’m not in the market for clubs this year, I am very interested to hear more about this release.
When my previous driver was damaged and in need of warranty repair, Callaway sent me an EPIC Flash Star as a replacement because they didn’t have any of my original model. I am very much not the target for the Star line, but even with that older release can attest to the very premium feel and detail that goes into that lineup. I’m sure the Paradym Star are even another level above and for anyone who fits into them, they will be worth the extra price tag.
I know it isn’t marketed to me, but man I want to get some swings in with the Paradym Star lineup. I’ve felt that way for years with the STAR releases, but have just never been able to find them anywhere to swing them.
I bet those are a lot of fun to hit. I know most turn their nose up at SGI irons, but they really are fun to put in to play. I bet I could freaking launch those things like crazy!
Nice looking clubs, that black carbon looks really good! Callaway has done a good job covering all the bases with the Paradym line.
I have an Autoflex shaft I love. These are fixed shaft on the driver? Is it possible to have the head put on an Autoflex shaft?

These look beautiful.
That driver and a full hybrid set is really interesting. A set made for distance that also has βbig flexβ appeal in the looks department? (that matters. It really does) As a short hitter that struggles with ball height this is great news.
Getting up there in pricing but then I look at my bargain last years Rogue Max ST at $300 that I put a $300 shaft in and…

Black Carbon is siiiiiiicccckkkkk. Night Mode and now these. Freaking awesome choice for colors
Cool, so this is the ultralight premium offering, kind of a XXIO competitor. They are refining their lines it appears and makes sense:
Star – Ultra premium/ultra lightweight
Big Bertha – Ultra Forgiving (with some premium options as well)
Paradym – Premium performance, the Rudolph that leads the rest of the sled
Rogue ST – Blue collar performance (it shows up and gets the job done) that is slightly lower priced than Paradym
Apex – Tour focused
The star is not really where my focus is, but that driver looks awesome. I am sure this will be a hit for many golfers.
Paradym is a pretty robust lineup now! Something for virtually everyone. I like the looks of the irons.
clubs look good. cool to see ATTAS Speed make a return! I’d love to have my dad try a lighter driver like this, but I don’t think it will ever happen.
Oh man! Those look gorgeous!
Are the Paradym clubs meant to be SGI? I think the Great Big Berthas are… I love the black carbon but think I’m better served by moving from my Mavrik driver and irons to the Bertha line instead of the Paradym… no matter how great I think the Star releases look.

They added 2. 5 to 3 degrees of loft for more distance. Shouldn’t they move toward stronger lofts?

Not for who this release is aimed at, with slower speeds (target demographic) loft allows for maximizing carry.

Love the blue. My elbows just sighed in pleasure with the closeup of the club shaft. It looks absolutely effortless.

Callaway, I think it ends in September. Check the site (IOW, the resurrected the thing).
