While there are a lot of companies who are finally realizing that having something for everyone is critical, Cobra Golf has been walking that walk for years. When they made the decision to really evolve and put more emphasis on their now AIR-X lineup of clubs, it provided something for a huge segment of golfers who need help but don’t want to sacrifice technology. This time around, Cobra is taking it even further by implementing focused design efforts that serve the golfers with smoother tempos and more human speeds. As always with AIR-X, the name of the game is distance through easy launch, higher flight, and increased lateral accuracy. The new AIR-X lineup is here.
2023 Cobra AIR-X Drivers and Fairways
Where the metalwoods are concerned, Cobra has put a lot of attention in not only implementing better performance, but a more cohesive aesthetic as well. Within both the drivers and fairways, the company’s showcase H.O.T. Face Technology is present with a 15% thinner build, allowing for more speed.
In case that wasn’t enough, the clubs themselves are also extremely lightweight with the driver totaling 290g weight. For the driver, that total weight includes 26g placed in the rear of the clubhead to bring the MOI to over 5,000, making it the most forgiving and stable AIR-X driver yet.
Both the driver and fairways also feature an offset design, and while some may balk at that, it has proven in testing to be an important design feature for the target demographic. The design actually helps address the biggest issue for most of these golfers, getting that clubface more square at impact. As such, these are bonded clubs with no adjustability.
Worth mentioning is the evolution Cobra Golf continues to make visually with the AIR-X metalwoods. Where in the past it always seemed like a bit of an afterthought, now there is some polish to it. That is as it should be, because all golfers should be able to enjoy and be proud of the way their clubs look, and this clean black and read color scheme achieves that.
The AIR-X drivers will come in 9.5, 10.5, as well as 11.5 with the women’s offering 11.5 and 15.0 degree options and will be priced at $349.
As for the fairways, they will be $299 and available in 16.0, 19.0, and 22.0 with the women’s in 19.0, 22.0, or 26.0 degrees.
Cobra AIR-X Irons and Hybrids
Not to be forgotten, lightweight is also the name of the game for the AIR-X hybrids and irons. The goal here was to make super game-improvement designs that were lighter but still packed with power. Both feature the same red, black, and chrome theme that ties with the metalwoods, not to mention the offset is also prevalent here, with more in the irons this time around.
The irons showcase a refined deep-cavity back design as well as an improved Speed Channel that has allowed the face to flex more than the previous AIR-X for more launch and distance. That face utilizes Cobra’s H.O.T. Face Technology that is 15% thinner and ties it into a more progressive and lower profile shaping. The change in profile was done in order to get the CG lowest in the longest club (4i) and highest in the shortest to hit the necessary windows to maximize performance at moderate speeds.
Where the hybrids are concerned, there is now an improved H.O.T. Face Insert being implemented bringing a new level of speed potential to the AIR-X line that hasn’t been seen before. Along with that, the hybrids utilize more back and heel-side weighting internally to add more draw bias while also keeping launch up.
Pricing for the AIR-X irons will be $699 for steel and $799 for graphite in iron or combo-set configuration, while the women’s will be $799 in graphite as a combo-set only.
Hybrids will release for $199 for men and women with the 3H (19.0) on the men’s side and 4H (21.0), 5H (24.0), 6H (27.0) and 7H (30.0) options available for men and women.
The Details
It should be clear that Cobra Golf isn’t just throwing the 2023 AIR-X lineup out there anymore. Sure, it is available as a complete 12-club set ($1,499), but that is in addition to individual club availability. One other thing that Cobra continues to get right with AIR-X is ensuring that there are men’s and women’s offerings, but without the clumsy color scheme that some other companies flock to for the ladies.
The new AIR-X lineup will officially be available for purchase on 10/6/23.
As someone with those more human speeds, this line up is very intriguing. I love that they have clubs for everyone. A 290g driver, how heavy are standard drivers? If that’s a huge difference wouldn’t Cobra be afraid that it’s going to swing a lot differently than drivers that are 30% or whatever heavier?

Usually 194g to 208g at the heaviest is where they tended to be. 45 SW points about would be astronomical to account for. The 290g was just the weight accordingly to the write up I’m still curious what the total weight is.

I believe they go longer with driver to help with swingweight.
Specs are up on the website. Looks like D1.5 swingweight with a 50g shaft and 46” length. 58 g grip.

Typically about 200g in the head, say 52g in the grip then it leaves you with a 48g shaft. I’d say the head is lighter than that to allow for a more standard shaft around upper 50’s or low 60’s.
Love that they offer both the offset driver and straight neck driver depending on your wants and needs. I hit last generation and it was enjoyable. Silly easy to knock the ball up in the air. Yes the spin was up there, but that also meant it was staying more online more me. A spinny fairway finder isn’t a bad thing for some folks.

Yeah, but you probably did the math, I just repeated what I read on their website ?

Big fan of heads like this for my 2nd driver.
Easy to launch, forgiving as can be and can even be hit off the deck.
@JB – will this get any run for you in the short driver slot? I think you had a prior version at one point.
Edit: beat me to it ?
I would like to spend about 10 minutes on a monitor with these hybrids. I bet the launch is REAL
The fairways are one I may take a peek at. Easy launch and forgiveness sounds nice
Under appreciated lineup, I continue to love what they’re doing with AIR-X, it’s a design that would aid a LOT of golfers imo
Easy to launch and forgiving should not be overlooked. I know some people who could probably benefit from playing clubs from this lineup.
My brother plays the previous Air-X driver with offset neck and 50 gran regular shaft. He has a big hook tendency with most clubs and hasn’t played a driver in years due to this.
He tested several clubs and ended up with the Air-X, because it was the easiest to launch, straightest and long enough to carry a lot further than his 3W.
I’d love to have tested it, but he’s a lefty and I’m not. The new ones look like an even better version also aesthetically.
would be fun to try ’em. would really like my dad to give the driver a go. my recent experience with Paradym Star (driver) makes me more open minded about these light weight offerings. getting on a monitor with the entire lineup would be fun and interesting for sure.
I think these look a lot better than the last line up. I was considering the previous line to upgrade my irons before I used my golden ticket on the Morgan Cup.
A very interesting product, and especially that 15° driver! That could make for one heck of a second driver in someone’s bag!
As a golfer in my 70s who has lost swing speed through age and some nagging injuries, these lightweight club offerings have grabbed my interest. I am curious how these Cobras will stack up against their competitors in the lightweight super game improvement club category, namely XXIO and the new Callaway Paradym Star lineup.
I want to try the hybrid and fairway wood in this lineup. I need more consistent distance and direction in the 220-190 yard distance area.
It’s great to see companies putting some advanced tech into this category of clubs and also making them look more appealing, rather than just having them as an afterthought in their product line. Very reasonably priced too, I’m sure these will hit the sweet spot for a good number of golfers.
Driver looks nice from the top down. Not a fan of the back of the irons though. Too much text cluttered onto the head.
Seems similar to the Ping 430 HL line but probably cheaper in price.
Nice looking clubs, but I wouldn’t have much luck with the driver, fairway woods, and hybrids due to the offset. Not sure about the irons.
I hit the previous generation 3 wood and really liked it. I was struggling to get any height on my 3 wood, so it was impressive to see how easily the AIR-X launched for me. Glad to see Cobra is continuing the line. You get a lot of bang for you buck with this lineup.
Easier launch and higher ball flight with a driver? Sounds like they had me in mind when designing that one.
The top of that driver looks really nice.
As someone who always hits this FMax, Airspeed, Air/X line up when it comes out. Is there anything different other than the H.O.T face? Seems like a new paint job over the last gen
Anyone see these in hand yet?
Is there any suggestion that the 2023 version of this is any improvement on the 22? The pricing on the older version is very intriguing and I haven’t read anything that suggests performance improvement over earlier models.
