Finding the perfect stand bag depends on which features are the most important to the golfer, so it’s very often a case-by-case scenario on which bag is the gold standard. Features such as weight, club dividers, pocket organization, and stand mechanism all come into play. Regarding pocket configuration, what if players could alter the bag by removing unnecessary pockets for a particular round? That is where we start today as Bag Boy introduces us to the ZTF Stand bag.
ZTF stands for Zip-To-Fit Functionality and allows for this stand bag to fit a golfer’s needs on a day-to-day basis. We all have experienced those rounds where there will be no need for rain gear or extra layers. But who wants to go through their bag, remove all those excess items, and then pack them back in at some future time? If you are like me, you don’t, and all those extra things stay in the bag and over time continue to add weight.
ZTF provides the ability to remove not just one but two side pockets, taking this stand bag down to a slimmer, lighter version thanks to a combination of zippers and velcro. Instead of eliminating those accessories from the large side pocket, remove the pocket from the bag itself.
“We couldn’t be more excited to introduce this innovative bag to the golf market,” said Craig Ramsbottom, President of Bag Boy. “The development of the ZTF is a project that we’ve been working on for a while. We think having two bags in one is a complete game changer.”
While the zip-to-fit functionality is the headliner, this bag hits the mark on many other features. It has a four-way top with full-length dividers, a flex base to activate the stand legs, and an insulated sleeve for your on-course beverage of choice. Bag Boy ZTF also includes a sliding shoulder strap system and a thick hip pad for comfortable carrying. Not to mention that it only weighs 4.5 lbs. Tailor this bag to your needs on any given round, and it will be a pleasure to carry around the course.
Anyone who has used a stand bag on a push cart understands that they don’t always go together like peanut butter and jelly. The legs can get in the way, causing some twisting and needing to readjust the bag throughout the round. But with Bag Boys’s Top-Lok Technology, the bag will lock into the upper cradle, eliminating the twisting problem. It creates such a secure connection that golfers don’t need to use any upper straps on the cart. To fully utilize this system, you will want a Bag Boy push cart, and in that case the Nitron is an excellent way to go.
Bag Boy ZTF is available in five colors: Pearl White, Black Onyx, Slate, Midnight Blue, and Moss, with a price tag of $249, and it will be available on February 1st.

I’m so happy I get to leave the straps at home for the trip to the Bag Boy Championship, will make packing the travel bag so much easier.

I think he’s talking about the push cart straps, you’re talking about the carry straps, right?
Neither @lambeau or I had the straps on, I’m planning on leaving mine at home (as of this moment, may change) the bag is so light you don’t even need those.

Yeah, the carry straps is what I’m referring to, and yes, they’re staying home.

I’ve not removed the side pocket but was noticing how much stuff I carry I don’t always need. This has to be the “test” for the weeks to come. How much can I really do without and not lose?
Yep, I kind of relate it to the dad wallet I used to carry. I switched to a Code 18 wallet and realized all the crap that I DIDN’T need to be packing around.

Could always purchase a cart strap sleeve to remedy that though.

If you have a white bag, definitely get the strap sleeve.
Played the par 3 course at Bandon today. My first time using the ZTF as a “Sunday Bag.” Worked out well but would of loved a single strap instead of back pack straps.
@Bag Boy are there plans for a single strap in the future?

That’s an awesome question, make sure you get that to us next week for the Bag Boy crew when we’re onsite with them so we don’t forget

So I feel pretty comfortable now and saying that I used to be a heavy proponent of a 14 way top. I like that every club had a spot for it to go.
But I have completely given up that train of thought now. The clubs are so easy to get in and out of this bag, there has been very, very minimal bunching, and no shaft rub.
And once again, with this blue, and I assume it’s this way with a few other colors as I know the gray does this as well, but I just love the material and the color and how it looks in the white and in certain lights, it just looks premium And fun

Material is really cool. I’m excited to learn more about it.
Emptied the bag today in preparation for packing for the Bag Boy Championship. Excited to make this test. Trying to decide if the zip off pockets get larger soft goods from the clothes to come and get used as protectors for the clubs.
I did see someone packing their bag with irons and wedges head down, that may get tested for the packing portion as an option.
Lastly, it’s been so long since I’ve flown with clubs, I wasn’t sure what state my travel bag was in, turns out I’ve been using a Bag Boy soft cover trav bag all this time.
Walked the par 3 course today. Super wet conditions. Bag wiped off super easy. Carrying is very comfortable. I’m enjoying the straps more then I first thought I would. It’s a very pleasant well balanced carry
I’m liking this bag for travel so far. Zipping the pockets slums up the bag for use inside the travel bag.
Trying a new way with all irons head down in the bag, the 4-way works well for this setup.
Removed heads from driver & fairway and the main pocket fits them inside their headcovers for additional protection of the clubs.
Random cool design feature I’ll try to get a pic of once I’m on the east coast. Using the rain cover to try to keep some control over the clubs sticking out, the velcro tabs are great but the extra velcro strap that loops through the carry handle is a genius design piece.
