By now everyone out there knows that customization is here to stay, so it has become a game of who can do it in a quality manner, as well as who can blend true creativity into it. TaylorMade Golf thinks they might have something that checks both boxes as they introduce their new “MySymbol” golf ball program.
TaylorMade Golf MySymbol
For once, the name here gives you a pretty good indication of just what TaylorMade is up to as they are bringing a bit of an outside the box customization option to their TP5 and TP5x golf balls. While the company has always done well with custom numbers, this notion takes the number aspect and replaces it with logos.
You see, there will be over 100 different logo options available for golfers to pick from which will customize their preferred golf ball, TP5 or TP5x, by getting rid of the number and replacing it with said logo option. So yes, instead of telling your playing partners you are rocking a number 5 TP5, it might be that you let them know you are hitting the pizza slice TP5.
Obviously, this won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but you have to give TaylorMade credit for stepping outside the norms here as it will definitely appeal to a certain age demographic which they seem to be highly committed to going after.
Among the 100 symbols are categories such as animals, food, countries, holidays, states, and even sports. Not only can they be applied in lieu of a number, they can also be placed on the side of the ball as a standard logo ball option for those who might want that. On top of the different logo’s, golfers will also be able to pick from five colors (blue, green, red, orange, pink) to replace the traditional black color on the TaylorMade font.
Will this take hold? Time will tell, but Colin Morikawa and Charley Hull have both already put MySymbol designs into play on Tour. The program will go live on www.TaylorMadeGolf.com today and will be priced at $54.99 with a minimum order of 3-dozen golf balls.
I really like that idea(y)
I like that. A nice customization and nice to see you don’t have to buy 40dz or something in order to have something custom like it may have been a decade ago etc
Pretty cool.
Very cool. Not something that really interests me, but I can definitely see a market for it
More options are good.
I like the idea. It’s a lot of fun. As mentioned above not have to buy a ton is a huge plus. I can see tons of small tournaments getting these to give out as the free sleeve you normally get in scramble events.
Love it. Price isn’t all that bad either.
This is a great idea. Agree with Ryan that price isn’t too bad at all. I am betting we see some people here take advantage of this.
Definitely interesting.
I really like this idea. Think the option to replace the standard black font on the regular stampings along with either replacing the number with a stamp or just adding a stamp will cover most of the market. This is definitely something I would pay for in my preferred ball.
Good idea here from Taylormade.
This is cool and I’m surprised at the minimum quantity.
Love this idea!! I always order custom golf balls anyway so this looks like it would be fun!. Very cool that you can change the color of the TaylorMade font
I dig it.
I am having a hard time saying how much I like this idea – it’s not invasive but it’s out of the box.
Why do we have numbers on balls anyways? Why can’t there be symbols etc. From a sku / inventory perspective they either stock a million different options or each one is done custom and sent out which might delay shipping a bit; but is it really that bad?
Right now I have so many golf balls and even more that I want to go try I won’t be picking up any but I would absolutely love to see this become more of a thing for everyone. Innovation without being abrasive.
I am willing to trade a sleeve of “G” balls (who TM is copying here) to someone who orders 3 dozen “middle finger” balls!
This is a good idea. Not sure if I would pay extra for it though.
I love this.
I need to design my own logo!
Really cool, looks like the logo selection is solid and being able to change the TM font color is cool as well
I’m on board with this too…do I like the price and the 3 dozen minimum? not really, but love the option

Yeah, I agree, only 3 dozen minimum is pretty low for this type of customization.
This is actually pretty cool. I wish I liked the ball better I’d be testing it out

I love this.
I need to design my own logo!

The artwork used is one of their own symbols.
Is it bad I wish other companies would do this on a better golf ball?

I can’t say better / worse due to lack of experience, but I don’t disagree. I said in mine that this seems like such a great thing to do. Even if it was only TM do it across all of their balls not just their premium ball.
Nice idea. They look good.

I misunderstood that. Now I’m less interested.
Interesting concept but Not a fan of the ball.
This is cool. Of course only after I’m seeing this, it seems like it should have been an obvious evolution for the golf ball manufacturers. Maybe they couldnt get the price point right before? Either way, it would be fun to play with some of those designs!
It’s different and I like it.
I would play these.

I really like the idea. Can be very unique.
That’s pretty cool! I wonder who’ll be the first to go with ?

And don’t forget the joker!
Pretty cool idea for sure. As someone already mentioned, would be much better if other companies offered the service but maybe TM will get other folks thinking about it.
Personalization is fun. I like the idea.
This is a great idea. Hopefully it spreads to more options on other balls.
So it is GolfDotz but pre-applied and more expensive, but you don’t have to take time to apply them… it’s certainly fun. I like having the option to change out my GolfDotz seasonally (shamrocks for march, Flamingoes for the summer, etc). Not sure I’d want three dozen of the same all at once.
Hey Srixon… copy this idea :ROFLMAO:
I love this idea!!

That’s exactly what I was thinking. (y)
Is this a continental USA , availability only ? Or worldwide rollout ? I can see some cultural difficulties ? Perhaps but l do t mind the broad idea of that insignia idea
This could be pretty cool if you can use any design within reason.
Good idea on their part, don’t normally play this ball so will not be purchasing but I am sure many will.
I don’t play TM balls, and this won’t change that, but I think this is a great idea! Hope more companies, specifically those that I use, follow suit.
I’m good with my Grandaddy logo balls so not for me. Definitely see a market for it though.
I like this idea. I can see further customization resulting but this is a solid start. I am surprised they allow you to pick the color of the Taylormade logo and text…logos are a big deal to companies and modifying them is usually a big nono..
This is a cool idea.
I agree that I would like to see this offered by other companies
Smart idea.
