Off Course is back this week with a fantastic show and this is episode 156. Hosted by Dan Edwards, each Friday he gives you a deep look into the world of golf and equipment in a way unlike any other podcast has done before. Today, SuperSpeed Golf joins the show, in a fascinating conversation about getting better.
It wouldn’t be Off Course without some tangents, but Dan and the folks from SuperSpeed Golf talk about the entire journey that is speed training. This show has a lot going on and is one you will not want to miss as SuperSpeed Golf goes Off Course.
Episode 156 is here and Dan and SuperSpeed Golf discuss the following topics.
The SuperSpeed Story
Someone Buys the Products, What’s Next?
Why Opposite Hand Swings?

Oh yes! I’m excited about this one.
Will be listening intently to this one.
This is just fascinating to me. There’s the physical element, but the mental element is so integral to freeing up the body so that it can perform.

This is so much of what I take from this show, as they discuss different arms.
Can’t wait to tune in on this one!

I know the mental side of speed is a big barrier for me, though I also know there’s a big physical element of just learning to maximize physical potential.
Def firing this one up after my meeting!
Oh yeah definitely will be catching this one!
Cant wait to listen to this. I love SuperSpeed and have used it for years and through the evolution of the protocols. Looking forward to hearing directly from the SuperSpeed crew and whatever insight and suggestions they may have.
Some of the numbers they were talking about during the pod were remarkable.
I’m always fascinated at how golf can be improved – and it seems like at least for speed potential, this is a true option.
Also, I admit completely my ignorance about the radar unit. I was SO sure it was about chasing the fastest number.. I never thought for a second it could be used to validate moves to see if they are actually improving speed or degrading it.

After listening one of the things that really stuck with me is that yes you are training to be faster, but with that comes a bit more in the reserve for the normal swing. It excited me about the possibilities for my own game. Rather than chasing that top speed, working to have a reserve so to not need the top speed.
I’m only a little ways in to this one but the statement about gaining six to seven MHP while never taking a swing on your dominant side was INSANE!!
Time to dive into this episode.

Isn’t that wild?
I have had a set here for a while but really haven’t used them. I feel foolish for that.
Fun listen. Some very interesting stuff. I don’t some speed dry swing training but honestly not a lot as it hurts. I would rather go get a large bucket and just mash driver till they are gone. For some reason hitting a ball does not hurt where swinging with no ball does.

Start right now, then we measure ball speed at our event.
Interesting about trying speed and athleticism before making good contact.

Done!
But I have to find the center of the face to see if it’s helped…that’s currently a concern ?

Not to me it isnt haha
I found this to be an interesting listen. I like hearing about the reasons opposite handed swings.

That and I do really need to get a radar to differentiate a good fast swing vs not so much
Great episode. I have been a longtime user and hearing the discussion makes me feel good and continue to believe in the program and motivates me to continue to put the work in. I have absolutely seen the results on the course. Fascinated about the mental aspect of this and will take those positive thoughts to the course. The discussion of non dominant side swings reinforces the positive effect of doing that and was fascinated by their study of a group doing only non dominant swings and picking up speed. I sometimes don’t give as much effort or all out on the non dominant side but I will now. Really enjoyed the episode and its one that I will probably listen to again.
Time commitment was touched on briefly, but it’s worth mentioning again that the amount of time it takes to complete a session is minimal. I usually hit a few balls, do the 7 minute dynamic warmup, and then the main session. I’d say it takes 15-20 minutes max, but feels faster. At first I was left thinking, “That’s it?” Really flies by.
I’m starting to sound like a broken record here but Gawdamn, Dan, your interviewing skills are getting so sharp man. Your questions and the way that you guide these interviews is getting more impressive every week dude. You can tell that you’re doing your homework and it’s showing up on game day. Another great episode.
As for the Super Speed system, I love the concept and the numbers but I’m super afraid of injury, personally. I have a torn SOMETHING in my right shoulder. It’s been that way for probably 20 years. I can play golf with it but I’ve actually put myself out of commission for a couple of weeks by swinging an Orange Whip too hard. This sounds like a shoulder shredder to me. 🙁
Found it interesting to hear the insight into why the non-dom swings are important and beneficial. And the data on how a few improved with *only* doing that.
Great show.
I’m in the middle of my first swing speed training program with a different company’s system. The lack of an app was one of the reasons I went a different direction. Their roll out of an app will be a big plus for them.
The results I’ve gotten from swing speed training in a short few weeks is incredible. Wish I had done it sooner.
Very interested in the force pedals and the Squeeze products and will be ordering them soon.

This what we always went after when training for baseball velocity. Improve your floor. It works
Another great episode @Canadan
Like others were saying, that training group that only did non dominant swings and still say massive improvement … ?
I think I need to try these out.
