No one would deny that Cobra Golf isn’t necessarily known for their wedges, but that has never been due to performance as THP’er feedback has constantly been positive with each and every iteration brought to market. With SNAKEBITE as well as SNAKEBITE-X, however, they have created a tandem which gives options to golfers of all skill levels and people are taking notice more and more.
Today, Cobra Golf isn’t reinventing those two lines, rather they are expanding them. This is a place where, as a brand, you can argue that Cobra has always been more in-tune with how to elongate the lifetime of their wedges to keep them relevant well past the initial releases.
Cobra SNAKEBITE-X Wedge Expansion
The SNAKEBITE-X was Cobra’s foray into producing a true game improvement wedge which was a standalone versus simply being a part of their game-improvement iron sets. The key here is the “Hollow Cavity Back Design” of the clubhead which also uses a soft TPU material to keep the feel golfers want while gaining the forgiveness of the CB.
In the initial release, the SNAKEBITE-X was limited to 48, 52, 56, and 60 degree options, this expansion is changing that by adding 50, 54, and 58 degree lofts that will give even more blending opportunities for golfers. More options in a more forgiving wedge are always a welcome addition.
Cobra SNAKEBITE RAW Wedge Expansion
On THP, there were many who were a bit saddened to see that there was not initially a raw option when the latest SNAKEBITE wedges were released. Today, those of us who were in that camp get to rejoice as Cobra has listened to their consumers as well as stayed true to their wedge roots and will be offering the wedges in a non-plated RAW finish.
The wedges themselves offer all of the same technology as the other finishes, including the CNC Groove Milling with progressive widths and depths depending on the loft. They also offer the same traditional length grooves on the 48-54 and full-face grooves from 56-60 degrees. The SNAKEBITE RAW finish will be available in all three grinds (Versatile, Classic, Widelow) which keeps a wide range of fitting capabilities intact.
The Details
Both the SNAKEBITE-X expansion and SNAKEBITE RAW wedges will be available for order starting today, 3/8/24. The price on the X will come in at $159 while the RAW settle in at $179.

Just had my go to guy order a 54 Versatile and a 58 Wide Low in RAW for me. Super pumped for raw wedges.

Can I be a touch grumpy that I just bought another CB style wedge as the X lofts didn’t gap well for me?
So good to see them expand the X line into more options.

Oof, I’d be a bit grumpy too. Wish we could’ve gotten the additional lofts sooner. I’m glad they expanded the options for the SBX line, but man I would have loved to have a SBX 58* last year.
I’m sure the reason is “because we wouldn’t sell enough of them” but would have been cool to see a 44* and 46* to match what CBX has.
Looks like they brought over all the lofts and grinds in the Raw series which is nice. Haven’t seen many folks pick the Classic grind but I’d probably do a couple with that grind if I went back to the Snakebite line

This is true and spoken like a true THPer. lol
Now excuse me, while I go check the horribly worn grooves on my less than one year old wedge.

There are terribly worn out…
Love this release from Cobra. Love raw wedges but really thinking about putting a game improvement in the 54 spot.

Yep. Just as I suspected. Club face as smooth as the white hot insert on my odyssey putter. :ROFLMAO:

I clicked on the attachment and threw up a bit. OMG.
Put mine in play today. Awesome feeling wedges. They are a heavier feeling wedge than any other I’ve played. Plenty of spin too! Nice finish, can’t wait till they start turning!
When it’s time for a wedge refresh later this year, I think these are going to be at the top of the list. It’s been a minute since I had a set of raw wedges. The black finish has been spectacular with respect to durability. But these would be a fun little twist.
Anyone looking to buy wedges right now should seriously give these a look. Spent some time at the range today and I’m just impressed every time I hit these wedges. With more lofts now for the Snakebite-X, they will be at the top of my list the next time I buy wedges. That’s all. Just wanted to tell everyone they NEED to try these. They are that good!
I know I have been hyping these raw wedges since late last year when I got mine from Jose and @JB after a virtual fitting and walk through. However, these things just flat out perform from the rough tight lies fairs on full or partial swings. I’m not a huge spin guy but these are sweet. Had multiple green side and approach from 110 in and every single time I had confidence and performance in the shot. Had a few tap in pars that these were able to spin and stop near the hole.
Raw is something that I would push anyone to try as it’s a unique experience and something that sets the bag apart. Also playing partner (random stranger) was amused I was using old wedges and should look to upgrade, however after multiple close nips with them he stopped razzing me about the “old” look haha
Dare to be different (probably a famous tagline for a car or other product)! I know when I thought of wedges I was hurting myself by not looking at all the brands. Give them a try I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.
