Introducing the Titleist Vokey SM10 Wedges.
By now you have likely seen the teasers Titleist has used to pull back the curtain on their newest Vokey wedges, the SM10. However, today officially marks when we can provide you with all the details about just what sets the newest creation from the genius mind of Bob Vokey apart from the past.
Titleist Vokey SM10 Wedges
While there is never any shortage of fine tuning that goes into the next Vokey wedge release, this year feels even more focused as there has been a heavy emphasis put on control, feel, and a lower flight. Of course, amidst this there is still ample focus on finding ways to maximize spin, as that is a constant when it comes to wedge design.
With each Vokey release being more than half of the wedges played on Tour this past season, and the most playedwedge since 2004, it has provided Bob Vokey and company with access to feedback from the best players in the world. According to Aaron Dill, Director of Vokey Player Relations:
“The best players in the world know exactly what they want from their wedges. The smallest details matter to them and they are very specific when it comes to describing the improvements they want to see. Their feedback is invaluable. We are constantly learning from them and it’s that constant collaboration which allows us to get even better with each new generation.”
There is certainly a level of pressure when it comes to the newest Vokey Wedge release, but in its first week on the PGA Tour, the SM10 was the most played wedge with twenty players making the switch immediately.
In terms of design, there are six different “tour-proven sole grinds” that will make up the main release of the SM10 (F, S, M, K, T, D) with twenty-five unique loft, bounce, and grind combinations available. This remains an area where Vokey seems to stand above the pack, the emphasis on finding the best setup for each golfer through their defined sole options never ceases to impress.
Bob Vokey and his staff have continued to also push to refine the center of gravity (CG) as much as possible. The SM10 utilizes an optimized progressive CG system based upon loft and its predominant use. In the 46-52 degree wedges the CG has been pushed lower to blend more seamlessly from an iron both in flight and gapping. For the 54-62 degree clubs, the CG is actually higher and more forward in order to lower/flatten ball flight to increase accuracy into greens.
Of course, it wouldn’t be an SM wedge release without the Spin Milled grooves. Titleist is continuing their design process with a scoreline which allows not just more spin, but more consistent spin even as the wedges wear. TX9 grooves are individually cut depending on the loft and finish with the lower lofts (up to 54) being more narrow and deep. The higher lofts utilize wider grooves that are also more shallow.
According to Titleist, we will also see the Vokey SM10’s have a more progressive shape than the SM9, again working to blend into an iron set, but also provide the visuals needed for the shot types each loft range is most used for. The SM10’s will be offered in Tour Chrome, Jet Black, and a new Nickel finish.
The Details
The new SM10 Vokey’s will be available for fitting starting on 2/15/24 and come to full retail on 3/8/24. The wedges will be priced at $189 and be offered from 46 to 62 degrees. As always, there will also be a customization program available through WedgeWorks, including Raw finished SM10’s.
really like the look of these. Vokey’s always perform exceptionally well for me but bc theyre so popular I always try to go with something else before putting these in the bag
$190/wedge is getting crazy and shows how much the wedge market is creeping up price wise just like everything else.
Beautiful wedges. The nickel finish in particular.
These look great. I would love to see Titleist bring a more forgiving wedge line to market. I know they sell plenty of Vokey’s but there have been a lot of improvements in the wedge game that benefit golfers like me and Titleist has really nice forgiving setups in all their other club segments. Would be fun to see what they could do with a CB wedge.

The nickel finish, the raw finish and 20 tour pros putting in play the 1st week! I bet these are special! Great write up @Jman !

I was immediately drawn to the nickel finish as well. They looked so good!
Agree with everyone on the nickel.
Replacing my SM8 wedges is a goal for this season. The 10 nickels will be a serious contender. Have a set of RT wedge shafts in the closet ready to be installed.
The nickel is nice, but I am still a sucker for a black wedge.

What made you switch from the newer SMS wedges you were using to the SM8?

The nickel is a great replacement for the brushed. Looks so much better. And they look clean as a group and will surely be great for a ton of people
Overall though they just don’t excite me. I wish they did.
There is no denying that a Vokey wedge is stunning, and these look sharp. Really liking the finishing options they have as well.
The nickel finish will be in at least one of my wedges this year. Can’t wait to see them in hand

The SMS irons still come out from time to time. I prefer the SM8s to the SMS irons in full swings. Could be a shaft thing. Could play either. More or less a comfort thing. I’ve played Vokeys for many years.
Vokeys always vokey. The story here feels a little light. I am sure they are great wedges but does not “feel” like a lot of change. Maybe that is a good thing… I have never played vokey wedges so wouldn’t hate to give these a try..

The top wedge in the game doesn’t have to change as much imo.
But, the immediate switch by so many says a lot, it always happens quickly, but not to my memory quite this quickly.
Yes, let’s go!!! I’ve been waiting for this article to hit the homepage.
Time to dig in.
Man, it’s hard to not zone in completely onto that new nickel finish!!!
That nickel finish though…. [emoji50]?[emoji100]
Great writeup @Jman, thank you!

As always, just have to go through WedgeWorks.
Or, do what I do, buy black, and vinegar soak them.
They all look pretty nice to me. I admit I sometimes gravitate to all black wedges. I am wondering how they compare to the 9s that I would assume may drop in price and more importantly the T24s from Mizuno.
James, @JB any idea when THP will have in hand and testing information? The photos looked to be stock vice the great photos that THP reviewers use.

This is just a release article, for these types we always use stock images.
We will be getting these in for review, when? Not sure as the PGA Show is this coming week, so, soon.

Thought that was the case, but wanted to ask, in case I missed it. Thanks!
Like so many others, I am seeing the nickel and going, ”wow.”

A very very nice edition.
I’d like to see it with about 100 rounds on them though.

Do you think it would hold up about the same as the black?

Not sure at all to be honest. Thats what has me so curious haha
As always with Vokey, beautiful clean classic wedges that will no doubt perform.
What I am intrigued by is the lack of mention of a competitor to Hydrazip here in 2024. I accepted it at first for manufacturers to be 1-2 years behind Ping, then Cleveland but this is now becoming quite a curiosity to me. Is it a gimmick (empirical testing seems to show that it certainly is not a gimmick), or is it too hard to manufacture in to make it worthwhile for others?
Great writeup! That nickel finish is…whew! Vokey wedges are wedges I’ve never tried. No real reason either, but i hear so many good things about them.

The jet blacks come with a label that says they will rust over time which I found was weird.
I guess you have to prompt them!

You don’t have to, but you can remove the finish with vinegar and then it’ll start immediately. It’s what I’ve always done to black Vokey’s.
As always, give me all the M-Grinds.
Love the finishes this year. I’ll go raw though.
I do like the nickel finish. I had a brushed steel set a few years back and that finished held up well so I’m optimistic about the nickel.
I see the L grind is no longer an option on the 60°. I’ve never tried the T I wonder how different it is.
Nice write up.

Longer the better, hahaha
Its an eyeball thing, but last time I think 12 hours, refreshing the vinegar at 6. Best way is to pull the heads, but if you can’t do NOT get the vinegar on the ferrule.
One day I’ll hit a vokey wedge
Each time the SM line of wedges drops, there is a buzz or swell around them as they previously hit tour, get pretty quick adoption and generally are well liked. Im surprised at how little there is this time around, but have a feeling once they drop in stores, that changes.
those look great, especially that nickel finish!!
I am really bummed the low bounce K is not a standard option..

Forgot to show the shaft options and color differences of the finishes. Nickel in the middle.
Will have these in hand today or tomorrow to begin working on a review for!
