Hoping to give their consumers the best of both worlds, Callaway’s new TruTrack line of Chrome Soft golf balls utilizes elements of both Triple Track and Truvis, the company’s two most popular pieces of visual golf ball technology. After listening to feedback from their customers, and looking at trends with their Tour staff, Callaway is introducing some subtle changes intended to enhance the benefits of both technologies.
Aside from just looking cool, Truvis has always been about dynamic feedback. The pattern draws in the eyes, makes the ball appear larger, and provides a visual reference for how the ball is spinning and rolling on both the ground and in the air. Callaway’s Jason Finley notes, “If you talk to golfers about what they like about Truvis, you hear many different things. But one of them (we hear a lot) is that players like to see the ball rolling. Whether it’s the spin or the track of the ball as you’re putting, and this just allows for more of that feedback, particularly on putts.”
Alternatively, Triple Track was designed with alignment in mind, giving golfers a static visual cue to aim the ball properly, both on the green and the tee box. TruTrack seeks to provide both of those benefits.
The first change we notice with TruTrack is the modification of the shapes, and the shapes’ placement, compared to Truvis. TruTrack is now utilizing hexagons instead of pentagons. In addition, the hexagons have been placed so that they frame the center of the ball, both vertically and horizontally. This small step alone means the TruTrack retains the dynamic feedback of the Truvis, with the additional benefit of providing some alignment assistance.
Callaway’s Eric Loper says about the new design, “We started with the position, in Truvis we have 12 designs symmetric around the golf ball and some of the feedback was that for some players they would like it to be a little bit cleaner, so we went to 8 hexagonal positions centered around that line, which gives us great symmetry. So that was important to sort of hone in on that. And then we focused on the shape, we were looking at circular, more fluid designs and we landed on the hexagonal shape because it gives us more alignment opportunities with these parallel lines.”
To add to the cool factor, the TruTrack hexagons are designed to resemble American flags, all the way down to the intricately placed stars. Loper notes that advancements at the company’s Chicopee plant, “gives us the ability to have a clean transition between the blue and the red. That’s because we are capable in the technologies that we’ve developed over the last couple of years to give us high precision in our stamping process.”
Still, the new shape pattern isn’t a complete alignment tool. Callaway’s ball team noticed the increasing number of Tour players utilizing alignment lines on their golf balls, often drawn with a marker, and decided to incorporate their own stamped line on TruTrack. The blue line, book-ended by pointed tips, sits perfectly between the new hexagon pattern, and gives players an additional visual cue for alignment.
Callaway hopes that the new TruTrack design will fill the space for customers that utilize alignment technology, but still want the dynamic visuals offered by the Truvis pattern.

Thanks JB! Really liked the pic from the Goat cup, and now I understand why there were no comments about it. Love the flags and as the article talked about the framing around the center of the ball makes total sense.
Will be interesting to see what other designs ultimately come out.
It looks like the start on the alignment line gives a little bit of the triple track alignment with how those hexagons are positioned? And more centered along the alignment line maybe not so much as the hexagons are not quite aligned to get the visual rotation correct?
Am I seeing that right in the photos?

I read that, but then the image made it look a little different but I guess it’s just perspective playing tricks on me (the bottom set looked square while the top looks angled out). Thanks for the clarity

Okay, I think I understand your question now, and yes. Perspective does play a bit of a trick, because the start appears dead square when looking at them in hand.
Thanks for confirming they are square around and it’s a perspective thing.
This is really intriguing to get a big piece of triple track but the benefits of truvis to watch spin around the greens. I’ve enjoyed balls where I can see how they are responding into greens.
Really like the alterations and looks of these. Visually it makes a lot of sense.
After having Finley show this to us and explain it, I’m very intrigued. As someone who currently plays Triple Track this seems like a potential logical switch.
he did give me one to try so I’ll take it out during my next round and play with it.
I really like the design and as Finley said golfers like to the roll
Really busy.
Not sure if it’s the flags or the hexagons contributing more. Because I dont mind most truvis balls.
That was an interesting and eye opening read. It’s crazy to think I’ve never gamed a Truvis ball to date…as the pattern felt distracting to me. The Triple Track has helped greatly with alignment both on the tee and putting surface.
Edit…I have put a Truvis in play on SIM rounds courtesy of the THP Tech Studio…

I’m a current Truvis fan so I’m definitely interested.
And isn’t it amazing that you learned about the ball from Jason Finley. THP access to people like him defies description. We are so fortunate to be able to learn from people like him.
@Hawk and @JB did I read correctly that they have a new cover for these golf balls?
I find this concept of alignment pretty interesting. It ensures your ball is square in vertical and horizontal and at your target. I’m finding it fascinating that Callaway is adding to the Triple Track alignment aid to gain more market share.

Absolutely it is! He’s also an open book and will tell you everything he is allowed to tell you 🙂
I was not a Truvis fan when it first came out, but it’s grown on me. I do want to give this line a shot, because I use alignment lines and appreciate a prominent one that’s stamped on there.

I have had the pleasure of meeting him and playing two rounds of golf with him. He was my partner and teammate in the Dream Foursome Experience back in 2021.

Not that I’m aware of, other than whatever enhancements came with the most recent CS line.

Okay, I was just curious to know since you had that note in the article. Great write up BTW!

I like it, the way the flags have the flat edges situated with the line really frame the putt

It looks really good off the putter face
this design is really cool. Always have been a fan of truvis. And have been really enjoying the 360 triple track.
this is kind of a best of both worlds between them. I haven’t played it yet, but It may be my new favorite style of ball from callaway
I like this! Reminds me of the TM Pix alignment, which I originally thought was terrible, until I tried it.

I can imagine so!
It’s cool to see how Callaway continues to push innovation with the golf ball. As a CSX player, these designs usually don’t make it to that line, but I am happy to see that this one will be offered for the CSX. The flags are also my favorite Truvis design Callaway does, so I will definitely be picking up a dozen of these.
I like these.
Boom. Just ordered a dozen X LS
Same. Used points and have a dozen on the way.
SO, I like this idea. It’s the evolution of both and comes off well. I say that strictly from a visual standpoint. I have a tendancy to line up my putts with as little line(s) showing as possible. Maybe this would help me use the alignment capabilities better.
It’s funny (to me) as I play all sorts, of ball TT, Truvis, and others, lines, designs, markings only seem to bug me when lining up putts – more practice needed I guess.

I like the look, will definitely give these a shot.
Will be giving these a try in the near future.

He really should be introduced to Captain Hibs :p
Love the look, could see myself picking up a dozen of these at some point over the summer.

Really like the look of these. I switched to TT because of the alignment aid. Now, you can have the best of both worlds, seeing the Truvis design in air and the alignment aid when putting.
Is the plan going forward to make most Truvis now a TruTrack? I have to think the ball plant only has so much time to print balls
Liking a little color on my Golf Ball and disliking the Triple Track, this fits me to a tee.
I asked in the Live GOAT Thread why CSX doesn’t ever come in a Truvis Pattern.
Got my answer and told to wait until today.
Love the new Hexagon Pattern in USA Colors – Couldn’t be happier with this new ball.
3 dozen will be ordered today plus pick up a dozen at PGATSS.
This will be my new ball for the summer.
Loving what they are doing with the CS line. The TT 360 is great and I will have to try these. I have always liked Truvis except for putting.
@Hawk – I really like your writing. Clean sentences. Clear meaning. Excellent communication. Nicely written article.
I am not one to geek out too much on ball design but I really like these a lot. I’m sitting on a backlog of balls but these will join the mix…eventually.
I saw these on the landing page of Callaway’s website last night when I went over there to look at wedges, so I figured we’d be seeing something here about them soon. 😉
The concept is cool, it’s like Truvis and Triple Track had a baby, and I dig the American flag motif. Will definitely be giving these a try.
At setup really gives a good perspective as to what you see.

I really like the look of these. This is the best American flag design by far that they have done. And the new alignment solution is much better than the previous models.

Before I played a truvis ball I thought the same thing (it would be very distracting), but surprisingly the pattern actually made me focus more.
I love the tweak to the pattern. I’ve always thought aligning putts with Truvis was a pain because of all the markings, love that it is cleaned up a bit, and allows for a more traditional alignment look.

I used these a bunch this week. Couple vids of them birdie rolling..

They’re fun. There’s enough going on to seen random enough that nothing really distracts me. I’d still never bother to line anything up other than for that one video, but that’s just me. I get what they’re going for and I like it way better than Triple Track. I usually play the red white and blue truvis or pix around some holidays and these will probably be no different.
Oh and I posted this the other day before I knew they weren’t out yet.

They had these two at the course too. Then yesterday I finally saw the LS!

I’ve always liked the Truvis, and I like this new iteration, but I also like the triple track. On a side note, I also like what TM did with the Tour Response:

I use the alignment aids, not only in putting, but when I tee off as well.
These are awesome. Good to see a live pic in the goat cup. Will be ordering some for sure. @HighLevelHacker @Hibs this the ball you playing?
I’m interested in trying Truvis on the X LS. I could see the alignment line working for me as well. First impression is the flags are a little busy, so I might wait to see if they release a solid Truvis version down the road
I really am liking the way these look!!
Really love the idea behind this. Looks awesome in this color and design.
