Hoping to give their consumers the best of both worlds, Callaway’s new TruTrack line of Chrome Soft golf balls utilizes elements of both Triple Track and Truvis, the company’s two most popular pieces of visual golf ball technology. After listening to feedback from their customers, and looking at trends with their Tour staff, Callaway is introducing some subtle changes intended to enhance the benefits of both technologies.
Aside from just looking cool, Truvis has always been about dynamic feedback. The pattern draws in the eyes, makes the ball appear larger, and provides a visual reference for how the ball is spinning and rolling on both the ground and in the air. Callaway’s Jason Finley notes, “If you talk to golfers about what they like about Truvis, you hear many different things. But one of them (we hear a lot) is that players like to see the ball rolling. Whether it’s the spin or the track of the ball as you’re putting, and this just allows for more of that feedback, particularly on putts.”
Alternatively, Triple Track was designed with alignment in mind, giving golfers a static visual cue to aim the ball properly, both on the green and the tee box. TruTrack seeks to provide both of those benefits.
The first change we notice with TruTrack is the modification of the shapes, and the shapes’ placement, compared to Truvis. TruTrack is now utilizing hexagons instead of pentagons. In addition, the hexagons have been placed so that they frame the center of the ball, both vertically and horizontally. This small step alone means the TruTrack retains the dynamic feedback of the Truvis, with the additional benefit of providing some alignment assistance.
Callaway’s Eric Loper says about the new design, “We started with the position, in Truvis we have 12 designs symmetric around the golf ball and some of the feedback was that for some players they would like it to be a little bit cleaner, so we went to 8 hexagonal positions centered around that line, which gives us great symmetry. So that was important to sort of hone in on that. And then we focused on the shape, we were looking at circular, more fluid designs and we landed on the hexagonal shape because it gives us more alignment opportunities with these parallel lines.”
To add to the cool factor, the TruTrack hexagons are designed to resemble American flags, all the way down to the intricately placed stars. Loper notes that advancements at the company’s Chicopee plant, “gives us the ability to have a clean transition between the blue and the red. That’s because we are capable in the technologies that we’ve developed over the last couple of years to give us high precision in our stamping process.”
Still, the new shape pattern isn’t a complete alignment tool. Callaway’s ball team noticed the increasing number of Tour players utilizing alignment lines on their golf balls, often drawn with a marker, and decided to incorporate their own stamped line on TruTrack. The blue line, book-ended by pointed tips, sits perfectly between the new hexagon pattern, and gives players an additional visual cue for alignment.
Callaway hopes that the new TruTrack design will fill the space for customers that utilize alignment technology, but still want the dynamic visuals offered by the Truvis pattern.

Appreciate the tip, but I really want just plain ol’ Truvis lol

These are awesome. Good to see a live pic in the goat cup. Will be ordering some for sure. @HighLevelHacker @Hibs this the ball you playing?

Those look sweet!!
Thanks for the sneak peak at THE GOAT CUP. They look awesome, cant wait to try them.
I really enjoy playing the Truvis balls and I love the changes they decided to make. Can’t wait to try them out!

After having Finley show this to us and explain it, I’m very intrigued. As someone who currently plays Triple Track this seems like a potential logical switch.
he did give me one to try so I’ll take it out during my next round and play with it.
I’m thinking the same. I’ve used Triple Track for a bit and this seems like it’s certainly worth a go. Interesting tweaks. Could be a best of both worlds situation as I’m all about Truvis as well.
Oh yes, the X LS will be ordered.

These are pretty cool looking when they roll. I’ve been messing with a sample recently. It is definitely more visually pleasing than the original Truvis, but i still prefer the 360 triple track
I played Truvis for a bit before triple track came out. I’ll have to give them a try. I think though I am probably more interest in trying the 360 track first. May need to do a head to head.

Oh, I really like that.
Here’s hoping Dick’s has these in time for Ballyhack.
I like that one, looks good visually.
…They’re fun. There’s enough going on to seen random enough that nothing really distracts me. I’d still never bother to line anything up other than for that one video, but that’s just me. I get what they’re going for and I like it way better than Triple Track. I usually play the red white and blue truvis or pix around some holidays and these will probably be no different.

You’re gonna have to give me a minute here to get over the shock of discovering that you don’t hate them with every inch of your body and soul. :ROFLMAO:
Just ordered a dozen of the LS.

Haha I play the holiday stuff. I just don’t like lines.
ProV1 is superior
Glad to see all 3 flavors of CS released at the same time.
Really glad they have spent time and money improving their stamping technologies and now we get multiple colors in one hexagon.
I kind of hope it’s not the beginning of the end for regular Truvis but it seems like that is the writing on the wall.
What I want most in the world is to be as confident with this alignment system as I am with triple track.
I can’t, not, try these out. 1 DZ LS ordered.
I am pretty obsessed with these. I loved @Hawk write up and seeing them in action along with some protos has me itching to put them in play next week.
Well looks like another ball to try out!

I played them again today. It’s around the greens that I enjoy these things. So fun to watch tumble and check/run!
I can see how this will be appealing to the eye and an secondary alignment aid to the single line , they look good!
I’ve always been a big Truvis fan, glad to see them coming up with new ideas. Truvis is great for me around the greens, will be interesting to see how the new alignment helps.
I really like this design and it’s a problem as I’ve already stocked up over 14 dozen CSX-LS balls..

I put them in to play on Saturday and I hit a perfect little chip just of the green and it spun so fast it crazy to see the TruTrack spin.
Even my playing partner remarked on how you could see the spin.
Love them on putts. The Track is so easy to see.
I just need to get used to CSX now off the putter, coming from XS.
Picked up a dozen today. They look very cool in person. Can’t wait to get them in play.
I have not played Callaway balls in a bit but I will definitely get some of these. I am into designs that help to visually track and am a pushover for anything with the stars and stripes. Cherry on top is the alignment aid…no need to twist my arm.

Superior in what way and for what kind of player?
And which ball are you talking about?

In the way an old troll has very little life in between shocking his monkey, so spends time on a website he was banned from for being a piece of shit to others.
I took a look at these close up when I was at my course this weekend. They look REALLY good all lined up. A little less chaotic on the brain I’d say.
Love these. Can’t wait to get these out for a run.
Looks like the TM Pic concept. Without the entire ball slathered with logos. These will probably be a pretty big hit. I will definitely try them at some point.
They had a large cylinder of these on the counter when i went to check in for my round on Saturday. I picked one up and to hold it im my hand and commented “ooh, you have the new TruTrack. The guy looked at me strange, then I explained how it’s not a standard truvis and walked him through the features. I got the “clearly you know more about these than I do”.
I would have thought he would have given me one for the knowledge drop. 😎

Happens to me all the time – Because of this website, I usually know more than the people selling the product.
Heck, I called my “Guy” at CPO on Thursday Night before the release to see if he could sell me Golf Balls – Did not know about these new TruTrack at all.
I filled him in.
I like the look. I would def game these.

Once you put one in play, you’re hooked.

Annnnnnnnnd now I ordered a couple dozen I don’t need lol.
Picked up a dozen today, will probably bring a sleeve with me for my round on Sunday.
That’s a busy ball but you’re talking to someone who uses Vice Paint Drips…..so i’d play it
Gimme a Canadian flag though!
I really like Truvis, and not a huge fan of Triple Track, but the TruTrack look right up my alley! Definitely need to try.
I see that a non-flag variant has also been released in Europe. Hopefully they’ll find their way over here too.

Honestly, they are really cool – I think you’d have fun with them next week if you can get some before then.
TBH – they are a lot like TP5 Pix however the colors you see after you strike it with a putter is stronger, very visible and much wider.
I am putting these in play tomorrow

Wouldn’t game it. But will always grab the USA themed balls for my display case at work.
