Hoping to give their consumers the best of both worlds, Callaway’s new TruTrack line of Chrome Soft golf balls utilizes elements of both Triple Track and Truvis, the company’s two most popular pieces of visual golf ball technology. After listening to feedback from their customers, and looking at trends with their Tour staff, Callaway is introducing some subtle changes intended to enhance the benefits of both technologies.
Aside from just looking cool, Truvis has always been about dynamic feedback. The pattern draws in the eyes, makes the ball appear larger, and provides a visual reference for how the ball is spinning and rolling on both the ground and in the air. Callaway’s Jason Finley notes, “If you talk to golfers about what they like about Truvis, you hear many different things. But one of them (we hear a lot) is that players like to see the ball rolling. Whether it’s the spin or the track of the ball as you’re putting, and this just allows for more of that feedback, particularly on putts.”
Alternatively, Triple Track was designed with alignment in mind, giving golfers a static visual cue to aim the ball properly, both on the green and the tee box. TruTrack seeks to provide both of those benefits.
The first change we notice with TruTrack is the modification of the shapes, and the shapes’ placement, compared to Truvis. TruTrack is now utilizing hexagons instead of pentagons. In addition, the hexagons have been placed so that they frame the center of the ball, both vertically and horizontally. This small step alone means the TruTrack retains the dynamic feedback of the Truvis, with the additional benefit of providing some alignment assistance.
Callaway’s Eric Loper says about the new design, “We started with the position, in Truvis we have 12 designs symmetric around the golf ball and some of the feedback was that for some players they would like it to be a little bit cleaner, so we went to 8 hexagonal positions centered around that line, which gives us great symmetry. So that was important to sort of hone in on that. And then we focused on the shape, we were looking at circular, more fluid designs and we landed on the hexagonal shape because it gives us more alignment opportunities with these parallel lines.”
To add to the cool factor, the TruTrack hexagons are designed to resemble American flags, all the way down to the intricately placed stars. Loper notes that advancements at the company’s Chicopee plant, “gives us the ability to have a clean transition between the blue and the red. That’s because we are capable in the technologies that we’ve developed over the last couple of years to give us high precision in our stamping process.”
Still, the new shape pattern isn’t a complete alignment tool. Callaway’s ball team noticed the increasing number of Tour players utilizing alignment lines on their golf balls, often drawn with a marker, and decided to incorporate their own stamped line on TruTrack. The blue line, book-ended by pointed tips, sits perfectly between the new hexagon pattern, and gives players an additional visual cue for alignment.
Callaway hopes that the new TruTrack design will fill the space for customers that utilize alignment technology, but still want the dynamic visuals offered by the Truvis pattern.

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM That’s awesome!
Might have missed it, but any thoughts from Triple Track users on how well these work on greens vs TT?
So @OldandStiff sent me a sleeve of the CSX and got to do some putting practice today while at the range. Really really enjoyed how the alignment worked. Much better than the regular Truvis!
Looking forward to trying these alignment beauties

Almost considering trading some TT G balls for these?
Played this ball this weekend and I love the design. I would be willing to trade some of my CSXLS TripleT stock (which I have a lot) for CSXLS TruT if there’s anyone out there.

Ready for this weekend!!! ???
After listening to the podcast this morning I’m going to pick up a dozen of these on my way to my nicer course. I think I’m going to go standard CS and not the LS. If I’m gonna change it up, might as well do it big.
As a triple track user I was not sure how I would feel about these, but honestly I think I love them. Patriotic, good alignment and I was always a fan of truvis for good visuals
I will be picking up a dozen or 2 of these. I think it’s one of the best they have put out.
Now, Chrome Soft 360* Triple Track available now…
Two rounds this weekend and it was fun to see Truvis in flight again. All the characteristics of why I play the CSX shined through and performance was on par with what I expected.
With the alignment I think I missed the TT lines versus the framing of the alignment with the truvis. I didn’t putt bad at all, but found myself missing the TT lines and didn’t realize how much I’ve gotten used to them.
Played today with the Tru Track and this is the third round with them. I really like this ball from an alignment stand point and identifying on fairway (and rough). I think this is my favorite ball now the CSXLS Tru Track.
Going to order a couple more dozen to make sure I am stocked. Anyone wanting to trade their CSXLS Tru Track for CSXLS Triple Track, let me know I have a ton… 🙂
This one is a lot of fun when you get that pure roll. Picked up a sleeve yesterday and enjoyed it. I was a little concerned about losing the triple track lines for aligning the putt but I didn’t notice any drop off there. Plus I think the roll feedback may be better, not to mention the truvis tech provides better feed back to read how chips are checking up or not.

Those look clean!
I managed to pump two of my sleeve into the woods and cut one on a pitch shot. Maybe a trip to the golf store is in order this weekend…
I played the USA TruTrack yesterday in the CSXLS model and really enjoyed it. My putting did not suffer switching from triple track and I am getting more used to the small differences between this model and Chrome Soft.
I’m a convert to the TruTrack, I bought a dozen to test out.

Shot a personal best round, with 28 putts. I like the way that the TruTrack frames the line, even more than the Triple Track.

Do you think you get the same impact with the red/blue ones? Or does the lines with the flag play a role in your opinion?

I only got the USA ?? ones and have 6 dozen of Triple Track to play through. I’ll get a sleeve of the regular red/blue and compare, I wish the USA ?? version wasn’t a limited edition.

Just ordered a dozen of these. The alignment aid intrigues me.
I don’t think my tiny brain will be as confident using this alignment versus triple track.
I have to say, I bought a box of these on a whim and loved them. Perfect and patriotic for the 4th. Will be buying more especially if they make the new red/blue color scheme available. Only had one left in my bag so I bought a sleeve of the regular Chrome Soft X without triple track and they play differently. Whatever they did with the newer core and/or the way they’re painting the covers—- even if it’s just tightening the tolerances and QC feels much better, a hair softer, and felt more consistent off the tee. To that point, the “Chrome Soft X” label that functions as the putting line is actually a bit curved on the regular balls… :/

This ball is a game changer for my son who struggles with ADHD! He finally has something that he can use to align his putts! He actually enjoys doing that now. Just mind blown!
Had to pick up some golf balls last night and had my mind made up I was going to pick some of these up. Sadly they only had them in the X LS version and thats not my ball. Disappointed I was.

I still have about 6 dozen Triple Track to go through from the buy 3 get 4 sale a few months ago.

If only there were CSX I could help you with them.
I got another dozen of these in CSX LS. I find myself splitting time between these and Triple Track. I want more color options with the TruTrack going forward. I didn’t like Truvis at all, but am loving how these line up

I play the yellow Truvis and Triple Track. I would love for the Tru Track to be in yellow.
So I ran out out of my Tru-Track CSX and my “G” TT CSX last week.
So Friday, I bought out my “Normal” CSX with no T-T or TT on it.
Pure OG with the smaller line and arrow on the ball.
Absolutely hated putting with it. I’ve gotten so use to the putting aids that I didn’t like it.
After my round, I went and picked up a dozen USA Tru-Track CSX-LS for a 2 day tournament I was playing in over the weekend.
Dropped bombs all weekend. So much better….
Sorry @OldandStiff I’ve become a “Convert” to the Putting Aid on the Golf Ball.

I bought a box of these to try, as I have been really loving the chrome soft again. I don’t usually use the line at all on the ball, so this was a big difference to me. I love the idea and look of it, and I’m positive that if you’re someone who uses the line on the ball while putting you will love it. But I just couldn’t get used to it, at least so far. I’ll give it a bit more time but I think I’ll stick with the regular truvis so far. Again, only reason being that I don’t use a line. If you do, they are great.

I agree 100%. There are plenty of balls from competitors that I would like to try, but I just don’t feel comfortable on the greens anymore without alignment on the balls and I have even got accustomed using alignment off the tee. I go between TruTrack and TT 360. I am on my 2nd dozen of TruTrack CXLS right now.
